Not much to say about today -- the ever-present headwinds kept me company through rolling hills, and I made slow, but steady progress. Shortly after leaving Bardstown I passed Heaven Hill distillery, and I almost passed out from the bourbon smell. It was eerily reminiscent of the college bars I fondly remember, but the plant itself was completely empty. The warehouses -- I think they were warehouses -- looked like a prison, with bars on every window. I guess you have to protect your bourbon, even in wet counties.

I easily rattled off the alloted 40-mile ride, then pushed a bit furter in an effort to get closer to Mammoth Cave National Park. I was a bit conflicted about the decision to go the the park -- it adds about 80 miles to the route, and I am very conscious of my schedule, since I plan to meet my family near Yellowstone on June 30. After hemming and hawing for a while, I pedaled south to a private campground, but it was closed, so I continued to Mumfordville. Woo Hoo!
